In August the Whiting Family generously donated a Sundial to the FHS Memorial Brick Park in honor of the twelve members of the Whiting Family that have graduated from the high school.  Gay (Whiting) Encarnacao '68 stated that "upon finding a design that we liked, Tootell Monument Works was able to have their bronze supplier custom make our sundial with the memorial to our parents, Harry '43 and Janet (Swift) Whiting '42. We could not be happier with the way it turned out".
Gay's brother Philip Whiting '67 is very proud of the fact that the Whitings have twelve family members that graduated from FHS, and he said that when he and his siblings (Gay '68, David '74 and Peter '79) discovered that all of the benches had been sold, they worked with the Brick Park Committee to come up with the unique sundial idea which has really enhanced the appearance of the Brick Park.  Phil said that they had already purchased a curb stone in memory of their Aunt Claire, but were thrilled to be able to honor their whole family with the sundial.
Anyone interested in purchasing a brick or a curb stone can contact the Brick Park Committee through their link on our FHS Alumni website: http://fairhavenalumni.org/memorial-brick-park
Don't be afraid to work with Committee Chair Tracey (Tillett) Manzone '73 about something special to honor yourself or members of your family of FHS graduates. All receipts are used to fund annual FHS Memorial Brick Park Scholarships to deserving college bound FHS seniors at graduation each June.
