Graduating in 1983, Debbie put the wraps on a career that saw her win all star honors in three sports. Her accomplishments during her senior year were just dreams to most athletes. She was the recipient of the Mildred Parkinson Tunstall Award, the Athletic Director's Award, and earned 8 varsity letters.
In basketball, she led the team and the division in scoring averaging 15 points per game. She was named to the Southeast Conference Division III All Star Team and the Standard Times All Star Team twice. She was named Player of the Week by The Advocate five times and was team captain her senior year.
In softball, Debbie earned The Advocate player of the week honors twice during her junior year. She was a Southeastern Conference Division III All-Star as well as a Standard Times All Star. As a shortstop she played nearly flawless defense, committing one error all season, and with the plate she hit a hard .405 from the clean-up position. Debbie was captain her senior year.
In field hockey, she was The Advocate player of the week all three years. She earned Southeastern Division III All Star honors as a junior and a senior. She was captain her senior year and a Standard Times All Star. She scored six of the team's ten goals. Debbie was also named to the Boston Globe All Scholastic field hockey team.
A popular student, Debbie was voted Most School Spirited and was on the Homecoming Court her junior and senior years.
Debbie also played softball in the New Bedford summer leagues. Her team won the Massachusetts State Championship and she participated in the National ASA Junior Olympic Girls Softball Tournament in Georgia placing 13th in a field of 36 teams. In 1983 she participated in the National ASA Junior Olympic Girls Softball Tournament in Tennessee.
