The expression "an athlete for all seasons" could not be more appropriate when describing Beth. During her 4 years at FHS, she played volleyball, basketball, softball and track earning 8 varsity letters. For her exceptional dedication to sports she received the Mildred Parkinson Tunstall Memorial Award.
Her accomplishments are many. In volleyball Beth was a South Coast Conference All-Star in both her junior and senior years. She also received an Honorable Mention during her sophomore season. She was also a 1995 Standard Times All-Star and received an Honorable Mention in 1994. She was recognized as a Standard-Times Player of the Week for having 20 assists. She was the Captain of the team her junior year. When asked by a newspaper reporter about Beth, her coach Laurel Hellyar, said, "her service is always down" and "she's the best".
She earned South Coast Conference All-Star Honorable Mention three times. Her most memorable moment came in the 1995 Dighton-Rehoboth game when she served 15 straight points and 3 aces with the help of her teammates.
In softball Beth was the team captain in both her junior and senior years. Beth also was awarded the MIAA Outstanding Sportsmanship Award in 1995. She received the Outstanding Female Athlete Award at Fairhaven High School from the YMCA and from J.C. Penney on behalf of Woman's Sports Foundation & National Girls and Woman in Sports.
Beth received a BS in Sociology with a concentration in Ciminology and a
minor in Psychology from Bridgewater State College. She played varsity volleyball for four years and was team captain her junior and senior years. She was named to the 1999 MASCAC All-Conference 2nd team.
Beth currently works for the Department of Social Service, as a social worker.
Beth has one child, Ashley, who will enter the first grade at Wood School in the Fall.
