Ashley Brown

Ashley was a 3-sport athlete who earned 11 varsity letters during her volleyball, basketball, and softball seasons. In volleyball, as the team’s setter and right-side hitter, Ashley led her team to the state semifinals and state finals during her 3 varsity seasons and was a huge contributor to the success of the Girls Volleyball program as she was a member of the 2010, 2011, and 2012 South Sectional Championship teams and SCC Champs in 2012. She was a standout who was a 3- time SCC All Star, a Division 2 All Star, and voted by her coaches as the Most Impactful Player. Coach Arsenault stated “ Ashley was an amazing all-around athlete with great court sense who would dive into tables to get a ball.”

Although Ashley had such an impact in volleyball, her focus was always basketball, where she dominated. On the basketball court, Ashley averaged 15 points per game, 6.5 rebounds, 5.0 assists, and 4.5 steals as point guard and shooting guard. She was a 3-time SCC All Star, 2 time Standard-Times All Star, 2013 Player of the Year, 2-time 1st team SCC, and ended with 1,045 career points. Ashley was also a Dave Cowens Award nominee and led her 2012 team to a 22-3 record and a state semifinal game at TD Garden.

Ashley also played softball in the spring. She was a 2-time SCC Honorable Mention and a Standard-Times Honorable Mention. She played many positions but finished off her senior year at shortstop with the following stats: 36 AB, 18 hits, 4 RBIS, and a .500 batting average.

After graduating in 2013, Ashley went to UMASS-Dartmouth and played basketball for 4 seasons becoming a member of the 1,000-point club over her college career. She was also a captain her junior and senior seasons. Ashley was Little East 1st and 2nd team, All Defensive Team, and All Rookie Team. Lastly, Ashley earned D-3 Hoops National Team Little East Conference Player of the Week 5 times and 2nd Team All New England Honors from NEWBA.

Ashley currently resides in Mattapoisett, MA and teaches Geometry at New Bedford High School. She coaches college basketball at Suffolk University and is still playing competitive softball in her free time.
