David, a five-letter athlete at FHS played baseball, football, and basketball. He was selected to the All Bristol County Baseball Team, chosen most valuable player of the 1943 baseball team. and was the recipient of the Sparrow Cup for the highest distinction in sports.

David played on various outstanding teams during his four years at FHS with many of our Hall of Fame inductees such as 'Jep' Lopes. John Rapoza. Norbert Desroches, Donald Martin. 'Pete' Lauzon. and Raymond "Dizzy" Dean.

After high school he played on a number of college intramural teams and was in the New Bedford Church Basketball League. He played center field for the Fairhaven Varsity Club in 1948.

David won the singles club elimination tournament at the Charles River Tennis Club in Medway. Massachu­setts in 1965. In 1947-1949 David coached at the Mattapoisett School in grades 7-9. He was the assistant football and baseball coach at Dean Junior College for 2 years, 1954-1956. coached in the Franklin Youth Basketball League one year. and was an assistant Little League baseball coach in Frank­lin for two summer 1990-1991.

While a student at FHS he was valedictorian of the senior class, served on the Student Council, was homeroom president I, 2, 3, 4 and was president of his class 2, 3 and 4. He received the Harvard Book Award in his junior year. He was a member of the National Honor Society 3 and 4. president in his senior year. David participated in orchestra and band during his four years at FHS. Super-latives used to describe David were "the smartest" and "the most likely to succeed."

His academic background: B.A. Yale University 1946; Ensign in the NROTC program; 3 years in the Navy Reserve; Masters in Education 1952. Boston University; Master of Arts in Mathematics 1961, Boston University; professor of Mathematics at Dean Junior College for 37 years; for 11 of those he was Dean of Academic Affairs.

David received a Certificate of Merit from the Dean Alumni Association for Articles written for the Dean Alumni Magazine; published an article for the journal of Education and a book, Saul's Victory and Other Stories; Past Presi­dent Rotary Club, elected Franklin School Committee 3 years, vice chairman, 1983; Board of Managers for the Franklin Hockomock YMCA.

He and his wife Clarice are the parents of 3 adult children and 5 grand­ children with a new one on the way.
