Missy Charpentier, a 10 letter athlete at Fairhaven High School, played volleyball, softball and ran winter track. In her senior year she was described as "the Blue Devil's hurler who led the area's pitchers with 206 strikeouts and was responsible for all of her team's eight wins". After graduating from FHS in 1996 the four year starter went on to continue her outstanding softball career at Emmanuel College.
The following news media quotes give an accurate profile of the FHS star pitcher: "Blue Devil's finest.....", "the hard throwing Blue Devil amassed 89 strikeouts in eight games and has recorded double digits in the 'K' department six times", "Missy is definitely the best pitcher that Fairhaven has had since I've been here," said Coach Glenn Gardner. Other quotes were: "outstanding among team leaders in batting", "top hitter", "club's number one pitcher".
Missy's recognition awards in softball include: SCC All-Star and Standard-Times All-Star in 1995 and 1996. Melissa and her teammate Beth Souza were singled out in the Standard-Times as "two of the best and brightest" on the Fairhaven volleyball and softball teams. The article stated that the girls won 13 of their last 15 games.
Missy's accolades are many. In Volleyball: '93 Standard-Times Honorable Mention, '94 - SCC All-Star and Standard-Times All-Star, '95 - SCC All-Star and Standard-Times All-Star. In Winter Track: '94-'95 SCC All-Star Honorable Mention, '95-'96: SCC All-Star Honorable Mention and SCC Indoor Championship 2nd place in the Shot Put while setting a new FHS school record.
He other recognition and awards include: '94-'96 Athlete for All Seasons Award; '95 Boston Globe All-Scholastic 2nd Volleyball team.
Missy and her husband are the parents of two children: Samantha and Kevin Jr. Missy and her father Ted Charpentier are the owners of Samantha's Restaurant on Route 6.
