Roy has the distinction of being the moving force behind the inception of the boys' soccer program at FHS. An avid youth soccer player, Roy petitioned the FHS Athletic Department to start a soccer program.

Without any soccer at FHS, Roy participated in cross-country in the fall seasons of his freshman and sophomore years, earning varsity letters each year as one of the top three runners.

In his junior year FHS began its first soccer season and Roy was the scoring leader of the team, which finished the season at 8-2-2 and as co-champions of the South Coast Conference. In that first season DaSilva scored 15 goals and had 9 assists.

In his second year Roy captained the Fairhaven squad to a I0-1-1 record and scored 20 goals and had 12 assists, as the Blue Devils became the South Coast Conference Champions.

Roy was selected to the Standard Times all-star team in each of his years and was a South Coast Conference all-star, as well.

In 1998 Roy played in Europe as a member of the European-Soviet Cup Tour team, playing in Holland, Denmark, Czechoslovakia, East Germany, the Netherlands, and Moscow, Russia.

At FHS Roy also ran winter track and played tennis in the spring.
