Mike Gill earned seven letters during his four years at FHS playing football. baseball and hockey. Gill was a starting guard on the 1985 football team. lettering for his senior year. He was also selected to the South Coast All Conference Team. He also lettered for the baseball team for his junior and senior year, playing the positions of third baseman and pitcher.
On the ice, Gill was a four year letterman garnering over 100 points while playing as a defenseman. He was selected team captain for his junior and senior seasons. He played for the l985 team that won the South Coast Conference co-Championship. Mike was also the recipient of the Mel Entin Award and the Fairhaven Custodial award during his senior year. In 1986. he was also selected to The Standard Times All-Star hockey team.
Upon graduation from Fairhaven High School Mike attended Northeastern University where he graduated with a B.S. degree in Criminal Justice in June 1990. In October of 1990 he graduated from the Rhode Island State Police Academy. He also earned a Masters Degree in Administration of Justice at Salve Regina University in I994.
Mike has continued his passion for sports by volunteering as a coach for both little league baseball and ice hockey teams. He has coached hockey at the mite, squirt and pee wee levels. He is currently involved with the Greater Providence Youth Hockey Program.
Mike currently serves as a Sergeant for the Rhode Island State Police. He lives in Bristol, Rhode Island with his wife Jane (McQuillan '86) and their two children: Erin and Sean.
