Jim Hennessy is still well known as a tremendous basketball player to this very day. He scored over 1100 points in his high school career and averaged 22 points per game in the state tournament games during his highly successful senior season. Jim was elected team captain in his junior and senior seasons and was voted as team MVP his senior year. He was selected as the "Player of the Week" by the Standard-Times eight times during his career. For three consecutive years he was a Standard-Times All-Star and the Taunton Gazette named him to their All-Star Teams twice. Jim had the great honor to be selected to play in the annual State Hall of Fame Coaches All-Star Game.

Jim received letters of interest from various colleges: Dartmouth, Springfield, Assumption, Vermont, St. Anselm's, Northeastern, Clark and A.I.C. He also received letters of praise from Senate President John Parker, State Senator William Q, MacLean, the Fairhaven School Committee and the Board of Selectmen.

Jim is still a frequent visitor at Fairhaven High School. He loves sharing his love for the game with his three daughters, Sarah, Asley and Hannah. He loves watching them as they play for the Lady Blue Devils.
