Known as "Crazy Legs" during his football playing days at Fairhaven High School, Robin played varsity football for four years, serving as team capĀtain in his senior season.
A running back, Holmes was an elusive hard-runner who carried on a fine tradition of Fairhaven backs. He was the Wonder Winner Player of the Week twice and was named to the All-Bristol County Football Team in his junior and senior seasons.
Robin also starred in track for four seasons. His :10.4 seconds in the 100 yard dash is still a school record. He and his teammates won the 440 relay at the St. John's Prep Invitational in 1961.
Robin attended the University of Georgia on a football scholarship.
