Henry Knutsen was a well rounded student who was an active member in school, athletics and the fine arts. He was class president sophomore year and class treasurer his freshman and junior years. During his senior year Henry was a member of the Executive Board, French Club, Yearbook Staff and the Traffic Squad which he had joined in his sophomore year.
Henry was also extremely musically talented. He was a member of the concert and the marching bands all four years of high school. He also played in the orchestra as a freshman and in the dance band during his junior and senior years.
Henry was an exceptional athlete who lettered in football, basketball and track. He was a co-captain in football and for the track team. In 1960 and 1961 he was part of the Class D champion 440 yard relay team with a time of 46.3 seconds. Henry and his teammates were also the Class D Belmont Relay champions in 1961. Henry's crowning achievement in track was his 440 relay team setting a FHS record.
On the basketball court Henry's teams also were quite successful. In 1959-60 the basketball team was a Class A semi-finalist in the Tech Tournament and Henry played a vital role on the 1960-61 team that was the co-champions of the Bristol County League.
Henry Knutsen is a perfect role model for the well rounded student who has a successful academic, music and athletic career.
