Joe Lacerda was an all-around athlete while a student at Fairhaven High. He distinguished himself while he played footbal (three years), basketball (three years), baseball (two years), and track (two years). A feared competitor, Joe was well-known by the opposition who came to respect his abilities as "one of the best" against whom they competed.
As a Senior he was honored by receiving the Sparrow Cup, recognizing him as the outstanding Fairhaven High School male athlete in his Senior year.
