Richard "Pete" Lauzon was an outstanding all-around athlete in the Class of 1943, playing three sports at the varsity level in a single year. Pete played football for four years, baseball and basketball for three years and ran track for two years, earning many varsity letters in most of these sports during his four years of high school. He also earned letters playing for the high school junior varsity teams while in the eighth grade, a rare achievement for an athlete then or now.
A versatile athlete, Pete was right halfback and later quarterback of the football team, played left field on the baseball team, and was a forward on the basketball team. He contributed to many winning seasons in four sports, scoring impressive victories against much larger schools across the state. His athletic skills earned him the superlative "Most Athletic" in The Huttlestonian in 1943.
An all-around student-athlete, Pete served on the student council, chorus, social committee, and traffic squad. He starred in the senior class play "Happy is the Bride".
