In three years of varsity basketball Bart Leach scored 1,239 points. In 1950, he was the MVP of the Tech Tournament. He was one of the leaders of the State Championship team and was on the Class B Eastern Massachusetts All-Tourney team selected by the Boston Herald. He later played at Penn where he was chosen for the All-Ivy League team in the 1953-54 and 1954-55 seasons. In the 1954-55 season he was the MVP.
Bart was drafted, the fourth pick, by the Boston Celtics in 1955, but he deferred his tryout until 1959. He has been a popular speaker in the area, appearing at Somerset High School the Sherm Kinney coached Raiders and at Mel Entin Night here in his hometown of Fairhaven.
