Peter was a four-sport athlete at Fairhaven playing football, basketball, track and tennis. In 1957 he received the Sparrow Cup as the outstanding male athlete. He was also selected by his classmates as the "most athletic".
In his senior season he was the football "MVP" and he co-captained the track and football teams. He was the first Standard Times player of the week after scoring the winning touchdown in a 7-6 victory over New Bedford.
Peter's high school career highlights include tying Durfee for the Bristol County League championship with a 6-2 record in football. Qualifying for the Tech Tournament in 1957 with a 14-2 record. In track he placed third in 1956 and 1957 in the mile and half-mile at the Bristol County meet and fifth place in the half-mile at the state meet. Pete was also on the tennis team as a senior.
After high school Peter played football for the Fairhaven Varsity Club and attended New Bedford Tech where he played basketball (Southern New England champions) and tennis. In tennis he lost only one singles match in four years. Peter was twice doubles champion with his brother Tom in the Fairhaven Recreation Tournament. He served as the Executive Director of the Fairhaven Boys Club for five years and taught in the Fairhaven Public Schools for 23 years.
Peter joins his brother Tom, and his father John, in the Hall of Fame.
