As a football (quarterback), basketball (guard), and baseball (infielder) athlete at FHS, Fred Morgan excelled. His play on the gridiron, court, and diamond was well noted by all of the area sports writers and he was as respected by his opponents as he was by the members of his team. He was awarded the prestigious Sparrow Cup in 1937, as the school's most outstanding athlete in his senior year. He was also voted the George C. Dickey Baseball Trophy by his teammates.
He received honors as "All-Bristol County" in football, basketball, and baseball, and lead his senior class of 1937 as its President.
Fred later played for and coached the Fairhaven Varsity Club teams and is a member of its Hall of Fame.
