While playing football at Fairhaven High School in 1918, Manny was named by the School Committee to be the Football Coach to replace Coach Fred Hill who had been called to military service. Although still a player, Manny took on this responsibility as he did so many things in his life.
As an athlete at Fairhaven High School, Manny earned letters in football, base ball, basketball, and track. As a member of the baseball team, Manny starred as a second baseman/shortstop; but it was on the football field that he ex celled at the quarterback position, starting for three seasons.
Baseball, however, was his greatest love and he devoted fifty years of his life to the sport as a player, manager, coach, and umpire. Manny also served the Fairhaven Boys' Club as a staff member for fourteen years.
On March 5, 1967, Manny was honored with a recognition dinner for his many years of service to the youth of Fairhaven.
