Nathan (Nate) Pickup

Nate has been described as one of the best all-around athletes to play for F.H.S. In his 4 years at Fairhaven he played football (3 years), basketball (4 years) and baseball (2 years). He was captain of the football and basketball teams his Senior year. He is the only area ath­lete to win both the Otto Graham Football Achievement Award and the Dave Cowens Basketball Award.

Nate was the S.C.C. scoring champ all 4 years of football. This Blue Devil stand out rushed to a team high 11 touchdowns, ran or kicked 21 extra points and kicked a pair of field goals in his Senior season. He was a running back with terrific moves inside and out and led his team to a Division 4 Super Bowl Championship in 1991. He was selected co the All-Conference team all three years.

In basketball Nate is still the all-time leading scorer. He averaged 29.7 points per game. His team advanced to the South Sectional Division 2 Tournament losing to Jeremiah Burke High School despite his blistering 35 point scoring effort. Nate won All-Conference Hon­ors all 3 years as well.

A 3.0 student graduating in the top 10 % of his class, Nate continued playing foot­ ball and basketball at the United States Military Academy at West Point. He lettered in basketball and earned a degree in Chemistry.

Nate was an Infantry Officer from 1997-2002 and served in both Bosnia and Af­ ghanistan. He is now a Company Commander in the Army Reserves and works as a Pro­duction Manager for Carefree Homes. He lives in Fairhaven with his wife Stephanie (Wilson) and their three children, Taylor, Abigail, and Olivia.
