Graduating class: 1951
Inducted into Hall of Fame: 2001
Hall of Fame Category: Athlete

David Sameiro was an outstanding football player. He was aggressive, played with reckless abandon, and made things happen. He was Fairhaven's best lineman of his era and twice earned All-Bristol County honors, in 1948 and 1949.

Dave was a starter as a freshman and began to dominate opponents as a sophomore. In gaining All-county status he was cited as a "rugged defensive tackle and a strong offensive guard". For the Fairhaven Blue, Dave was a weapon, adeptly running the guard reverse and using his brute force to gain key yardage.

Dave continued to be an intense and exciting team player in the 1949 season. He showed his versatility by playing fullback when his team was hit with injuries. He had the knack of making things happen and being involved in many memorable plays. In one game he executed an open field block that knocked three opponents down, domino-style.

Dave was also a member of the FHS basketball team for four years. He later played semi-pro football with the Fairhaven Varsity Club for many years.

Dave served in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He later eamed a degree from UMass-Amherst.
