Beverly Tabet

Graduating class: 1972
Inducted into Hall of Fame: 2002
Hall of Fame Category: Athlete

Beverly Tabet played basketball in the transition years - from 'girls' rules basketball to full court basketball (boys') rules, and she did so with honor and grace. During her sophomore year the rules changed, and so did Bev. In the 1968-69 season she had been a guard, but with the new 'wide open' game (and the ability to move to both sides of half court) Bev moved to a forward position (1969-70) and then to center (1970-72) where she flourished.

In the '71-72 season she poured in a total of 250 points in a 15 game season, scored 30 points in a single game and boasted a 16.6 per game average. It is believed that she set marks for most offensive rebounds, defensive rebounds, and blocked shots, but records were not well kept in those early days of Title IX.

No one worked harder than Bev. Always the first to hit the practice floor and the last to leave, she had a lasting effect on her teammates. She was generous in her support to other players and humble about her abilities. According to one teammate, "She lived a healthy lifestyle, was an honor student, and, in short, was the best role model you would want representing F.H.S. during the turbulent 7O's."
