Charles "Chuck" Tillett was an outstanding athlete from the Class of 1978. In his three years at Fairhaven High School he received nine athletic letters: basketball (3), football (3), baseball (2), and track (1).

As a senior he was the captain of both his football and basketball teams. During his time at Fairhaven High School he was a member of three conference champion teams, football in 1975, basketball in 1977-78, and baseball in 1978. Also in 1978 his basketball team went on to finish second in the state in its division.

In 1977 while running track, Chuck finished second in the state 440 yard dash in his division and was a member of the state record-breaking 4x880 relay team, running the opening leg.

During his senior year he led his baseball team to a I 9-1 regular season record, batting an impressive .491 with seven homeruns. He also had an impressive pitching record (7-0). His team went on to the state quarter finals that season.

Chuck was selected as the "Football Spotlight" of the week twice and was recognized by the Standard Times. Because of his abilities in football, Chuck received a full athletic scholarship to Boston College. While at BC he also played baseball and was drafted in the sixth round in 1980 by the Cleveland Indians and played in their minor league system. He also spent a short time in the Texas Rangers farm system.
