Cuffy lettered in football, basketball, and track and was the Sparrow Cup winner in 1926.

In football he was a member of the 1925 Bristol County Championship football team and was named to the All-Bristol County team as a center in 1924 and 1925. On the basketball court Cuffy started at the guard position for the Blue.

As a track and field athlete Cuffy excelled in the shot put, mile relay, and I00 yard dash. In the relay he was on a team that placed first at a Boston College invitational that featured 33 schools and over 400 competitors. In 1926 his Fairhaven High School team won the Bristol County Championship.

He was active in school life as a member of the school play "The Road to Yesterday". He was selected as the giftorian at the I 926 class banquet. As a student he was described as "a master builder of cabinets and excellent in woodwork."

His wife, Mildred Parkinson Tunstall was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1994 and his daughter Sheila Tunstall McKenna preceded him in 1997.
