Harry was a four-letter man in his senior year at Fairhaven High school, lettering in football, basketball, baseball and track.
He played football for four years as an offensive and defensive end, earning the respect of all of his competition. His abilities on the gridiron were among the finest in the area, earning him many local acclaims.
As a trackman, Harry ran for the Blue for four seasons. His specialty was the middle distance and he was captain of his senior team. Harry was awarded the Whitworth Trophy (the bronze shoe on display in the west lobby of the 1906 building of Fairhaven High School) for "best overall track man" in 1942. His time of 1:59 in the one-half mile run stood as a school record for many years. Harry was also the Sparrow Cup winner in 1942.
Later in life Harry worked for the postal service, serving for over 32 years. He served as the postmaster for the town from 1980 until his retirement in 1986.
He was one of the founding members of the Fairhaven Little League and served most recently on the building committee for the new Senior Center and Recreation Building.
