MEET ANOTHER BOARD MEMBER
SAMANTHA OLSEN (2009)
About Me
After graduating from FHS in 2009 I went to UMass Amherst for Kinesiology prior to transferring to Simmons College in Boston for a graduate degree in physical therapy. I stayed in the Boston area for several years but finally moved back home to Fairhaven in 2022. These days you might find me at work at my clinic in New Bedford, out for a run, or walking the dog around town.
Why I wanted to get involved
I really do feel lucky to have been able to grow up in a town with such history and so much beautiful architecture. I love showing people where I went to high school and seeing them be amazed that we went to school in a castle. Anyone who went to FHS knows just how much pride we take in this building, even back when we were kids. It’s such a point of pride that when I was asked to be a part of the alumni organization that works so hard to preserve the school I jumped at the chance.
It’s been said before that this alumni organization is unlike any other because of how much good it does for the school, and I think that’s because of just how much pride the members have in their town. I’m involved because I want my family and all the kids in this town to have the same school experience I was lucky enough to have.
Favorite FHS memory
More of a collection of memories. Mostly I think back to playing sports and how much fun we would have on bus rides to away games. A particular prank we played on our volleyball coach during spirit week really sticks out..
Favorite FHS teacher
My algebra teacher, Mr. Joseph. Definitely not my favorite subject, but he helped me make it through class!
