Meet the Board Member

Kristen (Sylvia) Borsari '90
About Me:
I'm a proud graduate of the Class of 1990. After high school I moved to Boston to attend school and began building a career in marketing and sales. I moved around MA a bit and eventually settled with my family right down the road in Rochester. I love the tri-town and I love Old Rochester Regional High School, but I'll admit cheering my sons on by yelling "Go Bulldogs" never really felt totally natural. I think once you're a Blue Devil, you're one forever!
Why I Wanted to Get Involved:
I know not everyone loved their high school years but I really did, so when Bob Foster (President of the Board of Directors) reached out to me and asked if I was interested in volunteering my time, I was honored and excited. I love the mission of the alumni group, which is about being a community partner of the high school and the Fairhaven Public Schools. With contributions from our generous and enthusiastic alumni, we're able to support a wide variety of programs at the school, provide teacher mini-grants, and lead restoration projects (have you seen how gorgeous Room 7 looks!?) Additionally, I was surprised and proud to learn that we award over $35,000 in scholarships, ANNUALLY!
Every time I drive down Route 6, past the high school, I'm always struck by how beautiful and special the building is. This summer I had the opportunity to volunteer and assist on some of the building tours that Bob conducts. It's so different being in the school, walking the halls, sitting in Room 7 and the round gym (now the library) as an adult. As a student, I never really noticed all of the stunning details or appreciated the historical significance. Now I'm kind of obsessed. Some of these tours have upwards of 50 people - I encourage all alums to check one out if able!
Favorite FHS Memory:
I have a lot of them, but Mr. Dufour taking his French classes on a "cultural immersion" trip to Quebec City is at the top of the list.
Favorite FHS Teacher:
Mr. Malcolm. I think that given my total mediocrity in his class, he would be stunned to know that I went on to become a math major in college. He prepared me better than we both thought!
