2026 LIGHT-a-LIGHT SEASON KICKS OFF!
Last year's 2025 Light-a-Light Campaign was a very successful one with 818 donations being received that totaled $43,040 thanks to our very loyal alumni base. We have established a goal of $45,000 for this year's campaign so that we can continue to support restoration projects and Alumni scholarships at Fairhaven High School. This past year we were able to fund $20,000 in scholarships to 10 deserving college bound seniors, as well as another $9,000 that awarded to 4 other students with funds donated to us by several alumni and friends of F.H.S.
We also gifted $10,000 to the FHS Marching Band after we learned that the program was in desperate need of new instruments and other equipment. We were very pleased to see those funds put to good use when we witnessed the impressive performance of the band at the annual Junior Day program in late May 2026 led by our new enthusiastic instrumental music teacher.
And just recently at the September 22nd Alumni Board of Directors meeting we awarded teacher mini-grants in the amount of $22,462 to seven different departments for teachers that submitted detailed requests for assistance that will provide enhanced learning opportunities for FHS students from grades 9-12.
The Battle of the Classes will be returning once again this year as the Class of 1964 attempts to retain their place at the top of the standings. The top five classes that have the largest number of donations from their classmates or "in memory of" their deceased classmates will have a $2,000 scholarship awarded to a student in honor of their class on Junior Day. Last year's winners were the Classes of 1964, 1976, 1966, 1973 and 1975. It would be great to see some other classes break into the top 5 this year!
